The Shakespeare Project

The Shakespeare Project

The Shakespeare Project is a place for every kid, ages 9-18, who wants to explore the power of art in community.  We welcome youth and teens who love: art, working with others, drama and acting & who want the opportunity to experience a really cool & unique project that helps bring out the best in them!

The Shakespeare Project gives youth and teens a forum to explore their thoughts, fears, experiences, and who they are, in a group of peers.

The Project helps kids and teens address abuse and violence in our modern culture through Shakespeare’s characters and plays.  Kids quickly learn that Shakespeare’s stories and characters aren’t so different than life today.  Kids and teens get the chance to explore issues of bullying, peer conflict and resolution, healthy relationships and self-esteem.

From A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Romeo and Juliet--a great way to make friends and have fun.  Not only do youth become empowered through acting the greatest plays of Shakespeare, but they become the directors, costume and prop makers & actors, while helping each other succeed.

The dynamic and phenomenal David Daniel of the American Players Theatre pays the Shakespeare Project a visit each season for a daylong workshop.  He will push the kids to find their inner voice and confidence.  David delights participants with his energy and passion for the art of Shakespeare.

Through the Shakespeare Project Kids and Teens Will:

Develop on-stage skills
Develop life skills
Develop confidence that they will use all of their life
Meet a group of peers who love art
Make friendships
Explore the power of art with a group of peers
Have a blast they will remember all of their life!

Here is what some past participants have said about Shakespeare Project

“I think that the Shakespeare Project has changed my life.”

“What I like about the Shakespeare Project is that I can be myself and nobody will judge me.”

“The people are what make the Project great--so many different personalities and different ages.  Then, to see us all get all work together and get along is awesome.”

“What I really love is that it brings kids and teens of all ages together--I never knew that younger kids could be so cool.  There is a respect among all of us--here we are all friends, the younger kids and older kids.  We all respect each other and that’s what makes this project what it is.”

“Shakespeare is AWESOME! And so is the Project.”
